Streets of Philadelphia

I recently took a business trip to Philadelphiato represent my company as a member of an industry society research team.  My business trips are usually back and forth to the same tiny Texas towns, so a trip to a big city was a welcome change.  I don't like being away from home, but if I have to be away, I'd rather be in a city with more than one restaurant, two gas stations, and a stop light.

Due to my schedule while I was there and the flight schedule to/from Houston (no direct flights - ugh), I didn't get to explore the city too much on my own.

After the first meeting day, we all went to a Phillies game.  They played the White Sox.  Neither are doing too well this season, but it was still so fun to go to a pro ball game.  The National Anthem was played by a small brass band.  We were in a suite with all of the amenities - drinks, food, comfortable seating.  The Phillies won!!  But I didn't meet the Philly Phanatic.  I've always loved him.  :(

The next morning, I got up early and left the hotel headed for liberty bell plaza.  I HAD to!  You can't go to Philadelphia without seeing the Liberty Bell.  That's like going to Disney World without seeing Mickey Mouse.

The museum opened about an hour after my meeting started, so I didn't get to go inside and get the full experience.  I saw the bell through the window.  Then, I hailed a cab to the office building and got to the meeting JUST in time.  Philadelphia traffic is no joke.  I was only 2 miles from the office, and the cab ride took about 20 minutes.

While I was gone, I asked Chris to take a selfie with both Lily and Collin.  This is the best he got.  :)  Actully, I'm pretty impressed.  Getting a picture of just one of the two is a challenge.  Collin is so busy lately, and he LOVES his Lily (or Gi-Gi, as he says).  Lily loves Collin, but I'm not quite sure that she likes him all the time.  I imagine that Lily would roll her eyes at him if she could - just like most older siblings do to their younger siblings.

Notice the whale onesie.... I love whales on baby boy clothes, and Collin wore whales Monday through Thursday that week and a nautical t-shirt on Friday.  :)  Theme weeks for kids clothes are fun to me.  This week is stripes - no one notices the "themes" except me.

and that hair!  Both Collin and Lily are getting new 'dos this weekend.  We waited a little too long - they both have wild hair!

It was a short visit, and I'd like to go back to Philadelphia one day to see all of the historic highlights and - of course - eat another Philly cheesesteak sandwich.
