San Francisco was first. We took a day trip to Napa Valley where we discovered that we do actually like wine... just not the $8 grocery store bargains.

We took a bus/walking tour of San Francisco where we saw Lombard Street (the most crooked street I've ever seen), the Seven Sisters (seven beautiful Victorian-style houses - one of them was the residence of the Tanners on Full House), the Palace of Fine Arts, the Golden Gate Bridge, China Town.....

We ended our city tour in Sausilito where we boarded a bus for a ride up to Muir Woods National Monument.

We walked along Fisherman's Wharf where the sea lions hang out.

We took a tour of Alcatraz. The audio tour was so interesting. This was definitely one of my favorite attractions in San Francisco.

The last day we were there, we took a very, very long day trip to Yosemite National Park. It was beautiful, and we'd love to go back again one day to explore the park more.
| El Capitan - If you zoom in on this picture, you can see people climbing. Some of the climbers sleep on the side of the rock! |
During the rainy season, this is a beautiful waterfall... |
While we were in San Francisco, we ate at Gary Danko's restaurant. If you go to San Francisco, eat there. It was amazingly good.
Then, we flew to Vegas. The first day we were there, we woke up bright and early to take a 45 minute flight to the Grand Canyon.

We took a half-day trip to see the Hoover Dam. It is crazy to hear the story of how it was built and of the dedication of the people who worked so hard to build it.

We took a short cab ride to Freemont Street - the original Las Vegas strip.
| Freemont Street Laser Light Show |
We walked up and down The Strip.

While we were in Las Vegas, we saw two shows: Le Reve - an acrobatic cirque du soliel-type show that was beautiful to see & Garth Brooks - he was teriffic! Garth came on stage wearing jeans and a hooded sweatshirt - just him and his guitar. He sang his heart out, told funny stories, and answered audience questions at the end. One of the people in the audience asked him to sing The Dance. Man, I wish they hadn't - that song makes me cry everytime!
It was such a fun vacation. Chris and I discovered that we aren't the type to visit Las Vegas every six months to a year...but it was something to see definitely!
