Rodeo

We have had season tickets for the Houston Rodeo for the past several years.  Chris and I usually go to several of the shows, and it's always so fun.  My Mom usually comes in town for one of the weekend shows.

This year was Collin's first rodeo.  He really LOVED seeing the horses running.  He said "horse" to every single horse he saw.  There are A LOT of horses at a rodeo, so we heard "horse" over and over for about an hour.  His reaction to seeing the cows and sheep was super cute, too.  The performer the night we took Collin was Willie Nelson, so Collin's first rodeo and first concert were the same night!  He was interested in the concert for a little while, but toddlers aren't too keen on sitting still.  We left a little early, once Collin had all he could stand.

I also saw Blink-182 with my best friend (I have no pictures).  We almost didn't see the show at all!!  We walked up to the people who scan tickets at the entry, and I realized I brought tickets for the wrong night.  Chris was able to forward me an email confirmation of our season ticket purchase, and they let us in.  I'm not sure if they are supposed to do that, but I was so thankful.  We wouldn't have had time to drive back home, get the tickets, and make it back for the concert with traffic and parking.  I'm so that we made it in, because it was so fun.  The lyrics to their old songs from the 90s are sort of funny now to sing out loud.  Lyrics such as "I called her mom from a PAY PHONE" and references to people's parents going out of town...It definitely brought me back.  I screamed every lyric (that I remembered).  It was amazing.

My Mom and I went to a Friday night show.  We got to see the final judging of the steers, and I picked the winners.  As soon as a saw two of the steers, I knew they'd win.  They were silver and so pretty.  The performer was Dierks Bentley.  I had seen him at the rodeo in a previous year, and he was so good.  His voice is great, and I know quite a few of his songs.

Another fun thing is that my Mom and I became TV stars.  I am the person-shaped, teal blurry blob in the picture below.  She is sitting next to me.  Famous.

It was a great rodeo season.  We are super excited for next year's Houston Rodeo.  Garth Brooks will be the opening and closing performer.  We have seen him twice in Las Vegas, and I loved it.
